Over 40 New Trees on The Boulevard in Little Saigon

Through a collaborative planting project with Viet Voices ,The El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association and Little Saigon Working Group, over new trees were planted on The Boulevard in The Little Saigon Cultural District (El Cajon Boulevard from Highland to Euclid). The trees were purchased by The El Cajon Boulevard Maintenance District, and Viet Voices worked with SDG&E who generously  donated 12 to the project. The El Cajon Boulevard Maintenance District paid for the sidewalk cuts and will maintain the trees. ECBBIA and Viet Vote staff marked potential locations with City Staff. The sites were evaluated for eligibility and 58 locations were marked for trees. Phase one includes over 40 new trees. Tree selections were made to include flowering varieties to match the Little Saigon Cultural District’s colors of red and yellow.

Studies have shown that shoppers in tree-lined commercial districts report more frequent shopping, longer shopping trips, and willingness to spend 12% more for goods. Healthy trees also mean higher property values (Source).  Learn more about the benefits of trees at People for Trees.
