El Cajon Boulevard Tour 2.0
To showcase the development successes and continued opportunities available along El Cajon Boulevard, The Urban Land Institute San Diego-Tijuana is hosting an update to their successful 2014 investor tour.
El Cajon Boulevard, a historic commercial corridor bound by some of San Diego’s oldest and finest neighborhoods, is in the midst of an urban renaissance that is redeveloping single-story commercial buildings, surface parking lots, car dealerships and repair shops with much-needed multi-story transit-oriented residential, craft beer venues, great multicultural restaurants and pop-up eateries, as well as community gathering spots.
The 4-mile stretch of road spanning from the intersection of Park Boulevard and El Cajon Blvd and heading east past the intersection of 54th and El Cajon Blvd, is anticipating the delivery of hundreds of new apartments that will include market rate, affordable and senior housing located along a dedicated Bus Rapid Transit line that efficiently moves residents between San Diego State University, the Interstate-15 transit connections to northern and southern employment centers, and Downtown San Diego. This is a far cry from the conditions we saw three years ago on the ULI investor tour.
