Arbor Week on The Boulevard

The Boulevard is going big for Arbor Day. In addition to welcoming the many new trees that are being planted in the district, a whole week of tree loving activities will be taking place from April 19th to the 26th.
Details are still being finalized but a preliminary schedule is listed below.
We’re teaming up with Hoover High School, The San Diego Zoo and AJA Project.
Workshop leaders include Queer Sol Collective, Tree SD, Youth for a Sustainable Future (Y4SF), Carbon Footprint and Treedom

Saturday, April 19th
- Kokedama Classes – 10am – Noon at Fair@44
- Led by Tootie. Kokedama is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball of soil wrapped with string. They can be displayed on a decorative surface or hung by string in a window.

- How to Plant a Simple Summer 2025 Vegetable Garden – 12:30 – 2 pm at Fair@44
- Don’t miss out on another Summer without home grown tomatoes and other fresh, seasonal veggies. At this workshop, you will learn simple and effective steps from a local farmer, Alyssa Brosky of Ranchito Milky Way, and be provided with free resources to jumpstart your home garden.

- Let’s Pollinate Our Community Workshop 4:30 – 6:30 at Fair@44
- Native Plant Workshop Led by City Heights Garden Interns/San Diego Zoo. With a native plant seedlings giveaway to community. Help ensure the future is filled with pollinators! Beautiful native flowers and lush plants make cities more vibrant and alive with color, while also serving as crucial habitat for birds, bees and butterflies. In celebration of Arbor Day, let the Native Biodiversity Corps of City Heights, a program supported by the SD Zoo, and local non-profit Dwelling on carbon provide insight and resources to get you excited about planting pollinators.

Friday, April 25th
- Tree Planting at Colina del Sol Park – The City of San Diego invites you to celebrate trees at the 2025 Arbor Day Event in Colina Del Sol Park! Grab your friends and family and join us for a day tree planting, beautification activities and more!
- The City’s Arbor Day event is free to the public. To volunteer to participate in tree planting at the park, please register here.

Student Tree Tagging– 3:45-5:45pm at Hoover High School Engage with Hoover High School to develop tree tags (Medicinal Benefits, Carbon Sequestration, Personal Stories, Dedications, History)
